Chad L Suttner
The suspect in an attack outside a bar in Kiel has returned to court.
55-year-old Chad Suttner of New Holstein was present for his preliminary hearing yesterday (June 24th) as he faces charges of Aggravated Battery – Intending Great Bodily Harm and Disorderly Conduct.
That hearing also served as an arraignment and a bond hearing, with Suttner entering a not guilty plea to both charges he faces.
Following his plea, the 55-year-old and his legal counsel argued to get his $50,000 cash bail lowered.
Despite some opposition, the State agreed and lowered Suttner’s bail to $40,000 cash but still ordered him to have no contact with the victim, Cody Rautmann, who was left with a traumatic brain injury after the incident, which took place in front of the Badger’s Den on May 22nd.
Rautmann’s injuries were so severe that he was placed into a medically induced coma.
However, Rautmann’s condition has since taken a positive turn with his family confirming that he is not only awake, but back home recovering from his injuries.
After yesterday’s hearing, Suttner is due back in court for further proceedings on July 31st, ahead of a scheduling conference on September 1st.
