There has been a major drop-off in local gas prices.
Since this time last week, Manitowoc County’s average price per gallon of regular unleaded fuel has fallen 44 cents to $3.99, according to the AAA Gas Prices website.
This marks the first time since the second week of September that the local average fell below the $4.00 threshold, but it is still $1.52 higher than the five-year lows experienced in January.
This is an average, so some gas stations may have higher or lower numbers posted at the pump.
Elsewhere around the area, Sheboygan County saw a 31-cent dip to $4.15, Calumet County’s average fell 39 cents per gallon to $4.04, while Outagamie County reported a 34-cent drop to $3.99.
Brown County reported the smallest change this week, with the 25-cent dip leaving their average at $4.19, while Kewaunee County motorists are paying 25 cents less per gallon with an average of $4.15, and Door County saw a 28-cent drop to $4.24.
The state average is also down 27 cents to $4.15, three cents higher than the national average, which is down 12 cents.
