For the second time this year, Wisconsin’s gas prices have risen above the national average.
Eastern Wisconsin specifically had been on a four-week stretch of steady declines before rising slightly last week.
This week’s jump was even more extreme, with Manitowoc County motorists seeing a 22-cent-per-gallon increase to an average of $4.43 this morning, according to the AAA Gas Prices website.
This is 34 cents higher than two weeks ago, but not the biggest leap over the past seven days. Sheboygan County has that distinction, with a 31 cent increase over the past week bringing their average to $4.46, 40 cents more than two weeks ago.
Elsewhere, Calumet County reported a 15 cent bump to $4.43 per gallon, Outagamie County saw a 23 cent jump to $4.33, Brown County’s average is up 17 cents to $4.44, and Kewaunee County is up 29 cents to $4.50.
Door County has the most expensive fuel in the area with an average of $4.52 per gallon, a 21 cent bump from last week.
The statewide average is up 27 cents to $4.42, 31 cents more than two weeks ago, while the national average is actually down two cents to $4.24.
The last time the national average was lower than the Wisconsin average was in May, when the national average was 7 cents lower than Wisconsin’s.
