A Manitowoc high schooler facing multiple sexual assault charges returned to court this week.
17-year-old Rory Wilhelm was in front of Judge Anthony Lambrecht for a review hearing, as he has been charged with First-Degree Child Sexual Assault, Sexual Contact or Intercourse with a Person Under the Age of 13, and Fourth-Degree Sexual Assault across two cases.
After Wilhelm was deemed incompetent, or unable to understand or assist his lawyer in the case, in August, this week’s hearing aimed to see if he gained competency to allow the case to move forward.
As a result of that review hearing, court records note, “The defendant is still unable to assist in his Defense and is not yet competent to proceed.”
In his most recent case, the 17-year-old has been accused of making numerous non-consensual sexual advances toward a child at the Manitowoc Public Library before touching her inappropriately; however, few details are available regarding his more significant Child Sexual Assault charge.
Wilhelm will now return to court on January 15th for another review hearing.
