A Manitowoc teen facing multiple sexual assault charges has been deemed not competent in both of his cases.
Across two cases, 17-year-old Rory Wilhelm is facing charges of First-Degree Child Sexual Assault, Sexual Contact or Intercourse with a Person Under the Age of 13, Fourth-Degree Sexual Assault, and Felony Bail Jumping.
Wilhelm returned to court last week for his adjourned initial appearance in his most recent case, the fourth-degree sexual assault incident.
At that hearing, his legal counsel argued that in his other case, he was found not competent for matters to proceed, and that the same should apply to this case.
The court agreed and found the 17-year-old not competent, meaning he is unable to understand or assist his attorney in the legal process.
However, in both cases, his competency evaluation found that “the defendant is not competent but is likely to regain competency within the statutory time limit.”
After being found not competent, Wilhelm’s court hearings in both cases have been delayed, and he will not be back in court until October 27th for a review hearing.
