The four Manitowoc residents accused of trafficking cocaine from South America to the Lakeshore have appeared in court.
This week, Jorge Luis Plana-Cotto, Norval Josue Almeyda-Sanchez, Jael Fernando Cruz-Arroyo, and Rosario Pena were all in front of Manitowoc County judges as they each face one felony count of Conspiracy to Deliver Cocaine Over 40 Grams.
For Cruz-Arroyo and Almeyda-Sanchez, their initial appearances went on as planned, with legal counsel for both suspects demanding a preliminary hearing.
As for Pena, her initial appearance was adjourned as she is still without a lawyer to represent her in the case.
Meanwhile, Plana-Cotto, who made his initial appearance late last month, also had his preliminary hearing pushed back while he waits for an attorney to be appointed as well.
The four suspects are accused of running a transnational cocaine ring, bringing the drugs from South America into Puerto Rico and eventually here to Manitowoc.
Almeyda-Sanchez returns to court on Thursday (September 24th), Pena on September 28th, Plana-Cotto on October 8th, and Cruz-Arroyo will next appear on October 29th.
