A former Manitowoc teacher accused of grooming a student will return to court today.
32-year-old Courtney A. Haupt will make her initial appearance at 1:30 p.m. in Branch 1.
Haupt faces charges of grooming a child for sexual activity and sexual misconduct by a school staff member.
Manitowoc Police investigated after MPSD received a report of potentially inappropriate conduct by Haupt and a 15-year-old student.
Police arrested the 32-year-old on August 20th.
Haupt allegedly made unwanted sexual advances both verbally and via text to the student, who then told his parents.
She was employed as a Special Education Paraprofessional but is on unpaid administrative leave pending the investigation.
She posted $10,000 in cash bail but is not to contact anyone between 12 and 17 years old unless it is her own family, and she is not allowed to have an internet-enabled device.
