An employee within the Manitowoc Public School District has been arrested for grooming a student.
32-year-old Courtney A. Haupt has been given a $10,000 cash bail as she faces charges of Grooming of a Child for Sexual Activity and Sexual Misconduct by School Staff.
Earlier this month, MPSD received a report of potentially inappropriate conduct by Haupt involving a 15-year-old student.
The Manitowoc Police Department then opened an investigation into the matter, resulting in the 32-year-old’s arrest yesterday (August 20th).
She has been accused of making unwanted sexual advances both verbally and via text messages to the child, who then told his parents about the situation.
At the time of her arrest, Haupt was employed as a Special Education Paraprofessional, but has since been placed on unpaid administrative leave pending the conclusion of the investigation.
On her arrest, Manitowoc Police noted, “The Manitowoc Police Department remains committed to protecting children and investigating individuals who exploit or solicit minors.”
Additional terms of Haupt’s bail include no contact with the victim, his parents, or anyone between the ages of 12 and 17.
She will return to court to make her initial appearance on Monday (August 24th) at 1:30 p.m.
