Just one week after warning residents of the rise in vehicle entries, the Appleton Police are once again investigating a string of such thefts.
This investigation began after a resident called the Department at around 6:00 Wednesday morning (August 26th) to report an unoccupied vehicle in the roadway with its doors open near North Cambridge Drive and East Edgemere Drive.
It was determined that this vehicle had been stolen.
When police arrived, four individuals fled on foot, but two of them, an adult male and a juvenile male, were caught.
The case didn’t end there, however, as police continued to receive reports throughout the morning of thefts from vehicles in the surrounding neighborhoods on the southeast side of the city.
The investigation is ongoing, and investigators are asking everyone in that area to check their vehicles for any missing items or damage.
Those with video doorbells or other surveillance video are also asked to review their footage to see if they find anything suspicious.
The Appleton Police Department is once again reminding residents to ensure their vehicle doors are always locked, all valuables and personal property are removed, and to report all suspicious activity.
Last week, the Department reported that, since July 1st, they had responded to 28 thefts from vehicles, 15 vehicles being rummaged through, and 11 vehicles being stolen on the north side of the city.
