The Manitowoc Public School District employee accused of grooming a student is due in court.
32-year-old Courtney A. Haupt is set to make her initial appearance in Manitowoc County Court today (August 24th) at 1:30 p.m.
This comes as Haupt faces charges of Grooming of a Child for Sexual Activity and Sexual Misconduct by School Staff.
The 32-year-old was arrested last week by the Manitowoc Police Department after an investigation revealed that she had engaged in an inappropriate relationship with a 15-year-old student at the school she worked.
She has been accused of making unwanted sexual advances both verbally and via text messages to the child, who then told his parents about the situation.
Once alerted, the parents contacted MPSD on the matter, who forwarded the claims to authorities before the interactions turned physical.
Haupt is employed as a Special Education Paraprofessional within the district but has since been placed on unpaid administrative leave pending the conclusion of the investigation.
Haupt remains in custody at the Manitowoc County Jail on a $10,000 cash bail.
