The suspects involved in a transnational drug trafficking ring in Manitowoc will be returning to court.
Jorge Luis Plana-Cotto, Norval Josue Almeyda-Sanchez, Jael Fernando Cruz-Arroyo, and Rosario Pena will all make their initial appearances in Manitowoc County court today (August 24th).
Each of the four suspects has been charged with Conspiracy to Deliver Cocaine Over 40 Grams after an investigation headed by the Manitowoc County Metro Drug Unit with assistance from the DEA Office in Green Bay.
The four suspects are accused of coordinating the transport of large amounts of cocaine from South American countries to Puerto Rico before it made its way to Manitowoc to be sold.
During the suspects’ bail hearings, Assistant District Attorney Angelina Scarpelli revealed that this drug trafficking ring involved selling significant amounts of cocaine inside Van’s Bar in Manitowoc.
Last Monday (August 17th), law enforcement intercepted a package sent via the United States Postal Service intended for Pena’s address, which contained two kilos of cocaine, leading to the execution of numerous search warrants, uncovering more drugs, firearms, and money orders linked to foreign countries.
All four individuals remain in custody on cash bail ranging from $150,000 to $500,000.
