The trial for a man facing murder charges in Sheboygan has been pushed back.
19-year-old Onterio M. Girley was originally set to appear for his final pre-trial conference yesterday (August 3rd) ahead of a four-day jury trial later this month as he faces one count of Felony Murder.
However, court documents show that pre-trial conference was scrapped after Girley’s lawyer, Avery Goodrich Jr., withdrew his and his client’s demand for a speedy trial.
That withdrawal of the speedy trial demand was signed by Judge Natasha Torry yesterday and has since put the case on hold.
The 19-year-old and Lawrence Buford, both of Milwaukee, have been charged in the fatal January shooting of Joseph Torres, a teenager from Sheboygan. Buford is due back in court on August 17th for a status conference.
Meanwhile, Girley will now be back in Sheboygan County Court on August 18th for a status conference, the date his four-day jury trial was originally slated to begin.
