The man charged with trying to steal a Two Rivers Police squad car after a pursuit will return to court today (July 16th).
29-year-old Brennen Toltzmann waived his right to a reading of the criminal complaint and asked for a preliminary hearing, which is scheduled for today.
Toltzmann faces nine charges, including 1st-degree recklessly endangering safety, attempted taking of a vehicle without consent, fleeing and eluding, and six other charges, after Two Rivers Police attempted to pull him over earlier this month.
After showing signs of intoxication, officers say he took off in his vehicle, leading to a police pursuit.
During the pursuit, a criminal complaint says Toltzmann intentionally hit a marked patrol vehicle, continued off-road to evade officers, and would later crash near N.10th Street and Waldo Blvd.
He then got out of his vehicle and allegedly tried to get into a TR squad car before he was tased and arrested.
