The Newton man facing charges after trying to steal a police car in Two Rivers is due in court.
29-year-old Brennen Toltzmann will be inside a Manitowoc County courtroom today at 1:30 p.m. to make his initial appearance.
Toltzmann has been formally charged with operating while under the influence, a 3rd offense, fleeing or eluding an officer, recklessly endangering safety, resisting or obstructing an officer, attempting to operate a vehicle without the owner’s consent, and criminal damage to property.
These charges come after the 29-year-old was pulled over last Wednesday (June 24th) in Two Rivers.
During the stop, he was showing signs of heavy impairment before fleeing the scene, initiating a police pursuit.
During the pursuit, Toltzmann intentionally hit a police car before crashing near North 10th Street and Waldo Boulevard in Manitowoc.
From there, he is accused of exiting his vehicle and attempting to steal one of the police cruisers; however, a taser was deployed, which neutralized him, allowing authorities to take him into custody.
Last Friday (June 26th), the 29-year-old was given a $30,000 cash bail, which remains unfurnished.
