A man from Schofield, Wisconsin, facing child sexual assault and grooming charges in Manitowoc County will be returning to court.
29-year-old Jose Medrano is set to appear in front of Judge Lambrecht for his adjourned initial appearance.
Medrano’s charges have been amended multiple times, and he now faces seven felony counts, including First-Degree Child Sex Assault of a Person Under the age of 16 with the Use of Force, Grooming a Child for Sexual Activity, and Exposing Genitals to a Child, among others.
The 29-year-old’s first initial appearance was delayed last week as he was still awaiting the appointment of legal counsel through the Public Defender’s Office.
Medrano is accused of traveling to Manitowoc County to forcibly sexually assault a local 14-year-old child, whose brother noted at his bail hearing, left his little sister “traumatized.”
After today’s proceedings, Medrano will return to court tomorrow for a bail motion.
Until then, he remains in custody at the Manitowoc County Jail on a $30,000 cash bail.
