A man from Schofield, Wisconsin, has been accused of sexually assaulting and grooming a teen in Manitowoc County.
29-year-old Jose Medrano was given a $30,000 cash bail by Court Commissioner Luke LeFevre this afternoon (June 26th).
Medrano is facing a long list of charges, including counts of First-Degree Sexual Assault of a Child, Grooming a Child, Exposing Genitals to a Child, and Delivery of THC, among others, linked to alleged actions perpetrated against a local 14-year-old girl.
During his bail hearing, it was revealed that the 29-year-old is accused of traveling to the area to assault the victim, sending sexual messages, making sexual advances, and providing the teen with THC.
When mulling a bail amount, Commissioner LeFevre noted that Medrano’s alleged behavior was “quite troubling” and poses a threat to public safety, while the victim’s brother added that the 29-year-old has left his younger sister “traumatized.”
Additional terms of his bail include no contact with anyone under the age of 18, no possession of any internet-enabled devices or controlled substances, and no contact with his own minor children, unless approved by their mother and the Department of Human Services.
Medrano will be back in court on Monday (June 29th) at 1:30 p.m. for his initial appearance.
