An individual facing homicide charges in Manitowoc County remains in custody.
25-year-old Summer Sprang was present for his bail hearing yesterday (May 27th), where he was given a $50,000 cash bail by Court Commissioner Jewel Scharenbroch on charges of First-Degree Reckless Homicide and Delivery of Fentanyl, which carries a repeater modifier.
These charges stem from an overdose death in Manitowoc back in February, which, after further investigation, led to the 25-year-old’s arrest on Sunday (May 24th).
When they located the deceased individual in February, police found evidence of fentanyl, methamphetamine, and THC in their bedroom, and it is alleged that Sprang supplied drugs to the unnamed victim that ultimately led to their death.
This was confirmed after reading through messages shared between Sprang and the victim prior to the fatal overdose.
When setting additional terms of bail, Commissioner Scharenbroch noted that this case was a “tragic situation,” and ordered Sprang to maintain absolute sobriety and to have no contact with the victim’s family.
He will return to court on June 1st for an initial appearance at 1:30 p.m. in Branch 2.
