A man recently arrested for allegedly attacking staff at a local nursing home is back in custody.
Manitowoc Police were once again called to the River Bend nursing home on Rapids Road yesterday (May 14th) on a report of an intoxicated resident.
Upon arrival, officers located 71-year-old Michael L. Gruszkowski, who was arrested last week after drunkenly threatening staff at the nursing home where he resides.
Once contact was made with Gruszkowski, he admitted that he “consumed a half-pint of an unknown alcoholic beverage approximately five hours ago,” while authorities observed signs of intoxication.
At this time, the 71-year-old has two open cases, including the one from last week, and another incident from earlier this year where he allegedly made drunken threats toward law enforcement.
Each of those cases has a bail condition of maintaining absolute sobriety, which authorities believed he was in violation of, so he was arrested and has since been charged with two counts of Felony Bail Jumping.
Gruszkowski was present for his bail hearing this afternoon, where Court Commissioner Jewel Scharenbroch set his bail at $100 cash, while continuing the condition that he maintain absolute sobriety.
He will be back in court on Monday (May 18th) for his initial appearance in Branch 1.
