More details have emerged regarding an aggravated battery case in Manitowoc.
35-year-old Kyle J. Huybers, who is set to make his initial appearance in Manitowoc County court today (May 4th), is facing charges of Aggravated Battery, Intending Great Bodily Harm, and Resisting or Obstructing an Officer; however, the release of a police report has shed new light on the case.
Huybers, who had a probation warrant for his arrest, was located by Manitowoc police officers last Thursday (April 30th) in the 4000 block of Expo Drive.
When the officer attempted to bring the 35-year-old into custody, he began to resist and tried to grab the officer around the head and neck area.
Eventually, a Taser was drawn, and Huybers began to comply before it was deployed.
Upon his booking into the Manitowoc County Jail, Huybers made a phone call.
However, when he was being walked back to his cell, Huybers punched a corrections officer with a closed fist, injuring the officer and sending them to the ground.
After throwing the punch, he was quickly restrained and subdued by other corrections officers.
Once surveillance footage was reviewed by the Manitowoc Police Department, Huybers’ Aggravated Battery charge was referred to the Manitowoc County District Attorney’s Office.
