The mother of the 15-year-old charged in a Two Rivers murder case has been ruled incompetent in her own child abuse case.
43-year-old Anna Reichard has been charged with four felony counts of Child Abuse-Intentionally Cause Harm, and one count each of First-Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety, Strangulation and Suffocation, Causing Mental Harm to a Child, and Contributing to the Delinquency of a Child.
As previously reported, Reichard was ordered to undergo a competency exam.
As a result of that exam, court records explain, “The Court finds the defendant is not competent to proceed and remands these proceedings to in-patient. The Court does believe the defendant may be eligible to regain competency.”
These developments come as Nathan Reichard, presumedly her son, faces charges including First-Degree Intentional Homicide in the killing of 16-year-old Peyton Vertz.
In Anna’s case, she was ordered to have no contact with the victim identified as N.R. while both Anna and Nathan’s CCAP files list the same Two Rivers residence as their home address.
Anna’s charges in the child abuse case date back to 2022, and she previously served time in prison after being found guilty of Neglecting a Child, Consequence is Bodily Harm in Sheboygan County, linked to a 2015 incident, outlining a pattern of violent behavior in their home.
Anna Reichard will return to court on Thursday (October 29th) for a review hearing, while Nathan Reichard is set for an initial appearance in his case on November 2nd.
