The 15-year-old charged in a Two Rivers homicide has appeared in court.
Nathan Reichard was present via Zoom for his bail hearing today (October 26th), where Court Commissioner Jewel Scharenbroch gave him a $500,000 cash bail.
This comes as he has been charged with First-Degree Intentional Homicide, Hiding a Corpse, Substantial Battery, False Imprisonment, and Theft from a Person or Corpse in relation to the death of 16-year-old Peyton Vertz.
During his bail hearing, Manitowoc County District Attorney Jacalyn LeBre described the actions of Reichard and his co-defendant, 26-year-old Dominic Pilgreen, as an “intentional, planned-out homicide” of a child from our community.
Meanwhile, Commissioner Scharenbroch explained that the two suspects tried to incapacitate and intoxicate Vertz so that he would be an “easier victim,” to be Pilgreen’s “first kill,” with Reichard’s assistance.
She continued to explain that Vertz was tortured before his death and was “killed in a way that was brutal and depraved.”
Additional terms of his bail include a strict no contact order with the victim’s family, Pilgreen, or witnesses in the case.
He will now return to court on November 2nd to make his initial appearance.
