The alleged gunman in a Sheboygan Falls murder case is returning to court.
36-year-old Luis Cruz Burgos will be inside a Sheboygan County courtroom today for a status conference as he faces one charge of First-Degree Reckless Homicide in the fatal shooting of Giovanni Michael Robinson.
This will mark Cruz Burgos’ first time in court in nearly five months as he and his legal counsel continue to review discovery.
During a scheduling conference held in March, it was noted that this discovery was supposed to include body cam footage from Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Office deputies that was either missing or destroyed, a matter the State said it was “looking into.”
The 36-year-old has been accused of shooting Robinson in the chest in the 600 block of Monroe Street in Sheboygan Falls while working as a delivery driver for DoorDash.
It is alleged that Robinson and his friends, tourists from Canada, were seeking a ride back to their hotel in Kohler from Cruz Burgos.
The two sides could not come to terms on payment, and witnesses allege that Cruz Burgos sped off, made a U-turn, and fired a shot from the driver’s window, killing Robinson.
At this time, Cruz Burgos remains in custody on a $2 million cash bail.
