The man implicated in a 2025 murder in Sheboygan Falls is returning to court.
Court records show that 36-year-old Luis Cruz Burgos is due back inside a Sheboygan County courtroom today (April 17th) for a status conference as he faces one count of First-Degree Intentional Homicide.
Last time Cruz Burgos was in court, it was noted that the Sheboygan County District Attorney’s Office was still waiting on some pieces of discovery from the state crime lab, including missing or destroyed body camera footage from the deputies involved in the arrest.
The status of that evidence remains unknown and will be discussed today.
The 36-year-old is accused of fatally shooting Canadian tourist Giovanni Michael Robinson in the 600 block of Monroe Street in Sheboygan Falls on September 24th of last year.
A criminal complaint explains that Cruz Burgos, who worked as a DoorDash driver, was completing a delivery in Sheboygan Falls when he was approached by Robinson and three other individuals who were attempting to find a ride back to their hotel in the Village of Kohler.
The two sides could not reach an agreement, and that is when it’s alleged that Cruz Burgos made a U-turn, fired a gun once, killing Robinson.
At this time, Cruz Burgos remains in custody at the Sheboygan County Jail on a $2 million cash bail.
