Grow it Forward in Manitowoc has a couple of updates to share with the community.
First off, as we previously reported, Harmony Café is in the process of moving back into the Grow it Forward Headquarters.
CEO Amber Daugs hopes to see the café reopened and ready for business within the next two to three weeks.
Amber is also excited that they have started their Feed Our Future fundraising campaign.
On a recent episode of Cultivating Community on WOMT, Daugs explained that the campaign helps feed hundreds of children in Manitowoc County who don’t have enough food on the weekends.
“Throughout the school year, we pack up food and provide at least ten items that go into those bags of food that go home with children who don’t have enough,” she noted.
People can help support the program by donating kid-friendly foods or cash.
Amber says that 39% of food share recipients are children, and 53% are elderly or disabled adults.
“It’s important to understand that those who are in need in our community who are receiving benefits (are) children and those who have difficulty working or are in that retirement category,” she said.
Their mission at Grow it Forward has always been to provide dignified access to good food in Manitowoc County.
