The Manitowoc woman who claimed to worship the “Saint of Death” has been sentenced.
49-year-old Blanca Perez-Hernandez was found guilty due to a no-contest plea on a charge of 1st-degree recklessly endangering safety, and Judge Jerilyn Dietz ordered her to spend four years of probation and time served in the Manitowoc County Jail.
A second charge of 1st-degree recklessly endangering safety was dismissed but read into the record.
The sentencing comes after a psychiatrist’s opinion said Perez-Hernandez “does not lack substantial mental capacity to understand the proceedings and can assist in her own defense.”
There was another competency hearing in her case in which she was also found competent to stand trial.
However, Judge Dietz ruled that a second hearing should be held. As part of her probation, Perez-Hernandez must also pay $500 in restitution and be assessed, treated, and receive counseling.
Perez-Hernandez was arrested in January last year after Manitowoc Police were investigating multiple stabbings.
A criminal complaint says the 49-year-old tried to remove license plates from several cars before she was confronted by their owners.
She then pulled out a kitchen knife and slashed at one person before trying to stab another.
Blanca told police she worshipped “Santa Muerte” or the Saint of Death, and that he’d gifted her “all the cars in the trailer park and all the cars in the world.”
