A Manitowoc man will get prison time for forcing his girlfriend into his car while hitting her at a Francis Creek gas station.
After a statement from someone in the case, 25-year-old Michael Whiting was sentenced to about 6 years in prison, followed by 7 years on extended supervision, by Judge Robert Dewane.
Whiting is also not allowed to have contact with the victim, can’t possess any weapons, and must maintain absolute sobriety.
Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Deputies were called in October last year after a gas station employee reported that a vehicle had been left running after a woman was taken away in a blue sedan.
A criminal complaint says Whiting followed the victim to the Travel Plaza before hitting her vehicle in the parking lot.
After yelling at the woman to come with him, he tried to pick her up and put her into his vehicle.
His girlfriend would bite the 25-year-old before he grabbed her by the hair and repeatedly hit her multiple times as he got her into his vehicle and drove away.
After Whiting was arrested, deputies found text messages saying he would purposely crash a vehicle he was driving with the victim’s child in it while on his way to the gas station.
