A Manitowoc man charged with forcing a woman into his car in Francis Creek has been given a plea deal.
24-year-old Michael Whiting has been found guilty due to a no-contest plea on 10 of 30 charges he faced in the incident in October last year.
They include two counts of intimidating a victim, two counts of false imprisonment, three counts of battery, one count of neglecting a child, one count of strangulation and suffocation, and another count of disorderly conduct.
Prosecutors recommended a five-year prison sentence if the 24-year-old complies with his bond conditions.
A sentencing date has been set for June 24th at 10:30 a.m. in Judge Robert Dewane’s courtroom.
A criminal complaint says Whiting followed the female victim to the Travel Plaza before hitting her vehicle in the parking lot.
He would eventually grab the woman by the hair, get her into his vehicle, and drive away.
He was later arrested at the Pizza Hut in Manitowoc.
Whiting claimed he “blacked out” during the incident but admitted to following the victim to the gas station.
Text messages also show that he threatened to kill a child who was in the car with him during the crash and assault.
