
More details have been released regarding an accident that killed two and left an 18-year-old man behind bars.
FOX11 reports that Giovanni Cadavid was given a $200,000 cash bond as he faces charges of Injury by Intoxicated Use of a Vehicle, Injury by Intoxicated Use of a Vehicle with Prohibited Alcohol Concentration, and two counts each of Homicide by Intoxicated Use of a Vehicle and Homicide by Use of a Vehicle with Prohibited Alcohol Content.
The crash occurred just before 7:00 a.m. on April 9th, at the intersection of Wisconsin Avenue and Meade Street in Appleton.
Alan and Margaret Hopfensperger were on their way to Kimberly to see their grandchildren when they were struck by Cadavid, who was said to be driving with a BAC of .195.
He was traveling west on Wisconsin Avenue when he ran a red light at speeds of around 50 MPH with a child under 16 in the vehicle.
Both Cadavid and his passenger were hospitalized but survived, while the Hopfenspergers both died from their injuries.
Cadavid is due for his preliminary hearing on Thursday in front of Judge Carrie Schnider.
