More details have been released regarding a recent child sexual assault case in Manitowoc.
55-year-old Eric A. Lemberger was in court yesterday (May 19th), where he was given a $50,000 cash bail by Court Commissioner Jewel Scharenbroch on charges of First-Degree Sexual Assault of a Child and Engaging in Repeated Acts of Sexual Assault of the Same Child.
The 55-year-old is accused of sexually assaulting a young girl over the span of approximately two years, beginning when the victim was just 7 years old in 2023.
During yesterday’s bail hearing, it was also revealed by Assistant District Attorney Angelina Scarpelli that Lemberger is the victim’s step-grandfather.
The incidents were brought to the attention of authorities when the victim claimed she was sexually assaulted on May 3rd of this year, just the latest occurrence in a pattern of abuse.
When speaking to the police, the victim also stated that Lemberger told her, “Don’t tell anybody about what I do to you on the sofa,” and continued to assault her despite her pleas for him to stop.
Lemberger would eventually turn himself in to the police, however, he refused to answer any questions.
Additional terms of his bail include a strict no-contact order with the child victim and no contact with anyone under the age of 18.
He returns to court on Tuesday (May 26th) for his initial appearance.
