A Manitowoc man facing drug charges is due back in court.
42-year-old Jerod W. Cape will be inside a Manitowoc County courtroom today at 1:30 p.m. to make his initial appearance.
Cape has been charged with a felony count of Possession of Methamphetamine and a misdemeanor count of Possession of a Controlled Substance.
These charges stem from a traffic stop that occurred in Manitowoc on May 2nd.
An officer with the Manitowoc Police Department witnessed Cape, who is a documented methamphetamine user, driving with a faulty brake light.
During the traffic stop, the 42-year-old was acting nervously and gave conflicting stories to the authorities before K9 Rolo conducted an open-air sniff of the vehicle.
K9 Rolo alerted authorities to the presence of illegal drugs, and the car was searched, uncovering Zolpidem, a Schedule 4 drug, and 0.3 grams of methamphetamine.
Upon discovery, Cape was taken into custody.
At this time, the 42-year-old is free on a $600 signature bond.
