A Manitowoc man facing multiple drug charges has had his bail set.
42-year-old Jerod W. Cape was present for a bail hearing yesterday (May 4th), where Court Commissioner Jewel Scharenbroch gave him a personal recognizance bond as he faces charges of Possession of Methamphetamine and Possession of a Schedule 4 Drug.
He was pulled over on Saturday (May 2nd) by an officer with the Manitowoc Police Department after they observed Cape, a known methamphetamine user, driving a vehicle with a faulty brake light.
During the traffic stop, the 42-year-old was acting nervously and gave conflicting stories to the authorities.
Eventually, K9 Rolo was called in for an open-air sniff on Cape’s vehicle, which, upon search, was found to contain numerous pills of Zolpidem, a schedule 4 drug, and 0.3 grams of methamphetamine.
He was then placed under arrest and transported to the Manitowoc County Jail.
As part of his bond, he was also ordered to maintain absolute sobriety.
He will return to court in Manitowoc County for his initial appearance on May 18th in Branch 1.
