Bail has been set for the man accused of attacking staff at a Manitowoc nursing home.
71-year-old Michael L. Gruszkowski was present for his bail hearing yesterday (May 6th), where Court Commissioner Jewel Scharenbroch gave him a $500 cash bail as he faces charges of Resisting an Officer and Felony Bail Jumping.
This comes as Gruszkowski was already free on bond in another case where he threatened a court official, which was noted as a continuation of concerning behavior, and considered when setting his bail.
The 71-year-old was arrested on Tuesday (May 5th) after Manitowoc Police were called to the River Bends nursing home on South Rapids Road on a report of an intoxicated resident who threatened staff.
Once police arrived, Gruszkowski’s erratic behavior continued, including yelling obscenities and resisting officers.
While being placed under arrest, he continued his remarks by telling police, “I’m going to get you guys.”
As part of his bail, he was also ordered to maintain absolute sobriety.
Gruszkowski has since furnished his bail and is due back in Manitowoc County court on Monday (May 11th) to make his initial appearance at 1:30 p.m. in Branch 4.
