Following the CDC and FDA recommended the pausing of using the Johnson and Johnson COVID-19 vaccine, Manitowoc County has decided to cancel their vaccination clinic which was scheduled for Friday (April 16th) out of an abundance of caution.
The vaccine is not being administered at this time due to six female recipients developing blot clots after getting the vaccine.
Manitowoc County Health Officer Stephanie Lambert emphasized the fact that those six cases were out of nearly 7 million doses given, making the occurrence extremely rare.
She also said that those who got the J&J vaccine should contact their healthcare provider if they experience severe headaches, abdominal pain, leg pain, or shortness of breath.
