Milwaukee Brewers right-hander Corbin Burnes has allowed just two hits and a single run in 12-and-a-third innings over his first two starts,but a 3-1 defeat Thursday in St. Louis means the Brewers have lost both.
The hitters don’t show up when he pitches.
Milwaukee led 1-0 most of the game after the Cardinals committed two errors on one pickoff play.
Tommy Edman led off the first inning with a triple for St. Louis, then Burnes retired nine in-a-row. After he hit a batter, he retired another nine batters in-a-row.
St. Louis tied the game in the bottom of the seventh, then went ahead on a two-run homer by Nolan Arenado off Brewers reliever Drew Rasmussen.
The teams take today (April 9th) off, then meet again over the weekend. Adrian Houser will start Saturday.
