Former players and almost anybody who’s been a part of the Badgers football program are stepping up to honor departing athletic director Barry Alvarez.
He made his retirement formal Tuesday by saying his last day on the job will be June 30th.
Former Badger Brian Calhoun says Alvarez is an inspiration who’s leaving behind a “legacy of hard work.” He gives Alvarez credit for changing the culture in Madison.
James Hoyt says as a football coach, Alvarez built the program, and as an athletic director, he sustained it. Hoyt was on the University of Wisconsin Athletic Board when Alvarez was hired.
