Freddy Peralta and two relievers stopped the Chicago Cubs cold with a one-hitter Tuesday at Wrigley Field.
Kris Bryant’s fourth-inning double was the Cubs’ only hit in a 4-0 shutout loss.
Peralta got the win, while Travis Shaw pounded a three-run homer and Omar Narvaez added a solo shot as Milwaukee broke its three-game losing streak.
Peralta struck out eight and walked four in his five innings on the mound.
Lefty Brent Suter pitched a near-perfect three innings in relief, giving up only a walk.
The benches emptied in the ninth when Brewers reliever Brad Boxberger hit Cubs catcher Wilson Contreras with a pitch.
Contreras had just been beaned by the Brewers the day before.
The teams wrap up the three-game set with an afternoon contest today (April 7th) at 1:20 PM which you can listen to on 107.9 FM WOMT. Brandon Woodruff goes for the Brewers.
