Over 4,300 dogs are showing this weekend at Manitowoc County Expo, minus the general public.
After the COVID-19 pandemic shutdown the past year, Expo Facilities Manager Jennell Shelton is excited for the future with one of their biggest events, the Northeast Wisconsin Dog Show Classic, happening through Sunday. “They’re going to be here on site starting at 8:00 o’clock in the morning and staying until the night,” Shelton told Seehafer News. “They use the ice center as their show-ring area, just like you see on the AKC or programs on TV.”
Show attendees also utilize other expo buildings for grooming areas. “We have onsite camping with campers and RV’s on the grounds because some of these people show every single day,” Shelton explained. “It’s a big deal and this is where they get certified to go to the bigger shows.”
The Expo spokeswoman said because of covid, it is a closed show this year. But, that doesn’t diminish the fact the Northeast Wisconsin Dog Show Classic has a huge impact on the local economy in terms of people staying at our hotels and visiting grocery stores and restaurants.
