One of the finalists for police chief in Milwaukee is no longer waiting for a decision.
Malik Aziz has been hired to lead the Prince George’s County Police Department in the Washington, D-C metropolitan area.
Aziz was a deputy police chief in Dallas before taking the new job.
He was one of two finalists for the position in Milwaukee.
The Fire and Police Commission had narrowed its choices to Aziz and Hoyt Mahaley.
The search for a new chief was put on hold while legal issues are hammered out over the demotion of former police chief Alfonso Morales.
Jeff Norman is serving as Acting Chief for Milwaukee.
