Wisconsin Athletic Director Barry Alvarez is expected to announce his retirement in the next few weeks.
He established Badger football as a Big Ten power in the 1990s and has served as the Madison school’s athletic director for the last 15 years.
Alvarez turned 74 years old in December.
Sources at the university indicate he is backing U-W deputy athletic director Chris McIntosh to take his place, however, such a move isn’t guaranteed and the school will conduct a nationwide search for a successor.
