Two outstanding lakeshore area basketball players have been voted Honorable Mention on the Wisconsin AP Boys All-State team.
Manitowoc Lincoln High School senior Mason Dopirak, the Ships all-time leading scorer and two-time FRCC Player of the Year, was accorded “High Honorable Mention” after receiving at least one vote.
Joining Dopirak on that list are area players Donovan Short of Denmark, Casey Verhagen from Sheboygan Lutheran and De Pere’s Johnny Kinziger.
Those basketball players named Honorable Mention All-State includes Roncalli Junior Luke Pautz, who was recently voted Player of the Year in the E-W-C.
Two other players from the region on the list are Marcus Tomashek of Ashwaubenon and Wrightstown’s Sam Haese.
All-State Player-of-the-Year is Brandin Podziemski of Delafield St. John’s Northwestern Academies and Coach-of-the-Year is Nick Bennett of Division-3 State champion Racine St. Catherine’s.
Two of Coach Bennett’s players, Tyrese Hunter and Kamari McGee were chosen 1st team All-State, along with Preston Ruedinger of Oshkosh Lourdes, Podziemski and David Joplin of Brookfield Central.
One of the Second Team All-State picks is Kimberly’s Jackson Paveletzke while Seymour’s Mason Dorn was a Fourth Team selection.
