Officials with Union Pacific Railroad say there were no injuries when a train derailed in Rock County Thursday just before noon.
A railroad spokesperson says five empty rail cars pulled by a mixed cargo train went off the tracks in Clinton. Those cars remained upright but Highway 140 traffic was blocked for more than five hours.
Union Pacific says it is still investigating the cause of the derailment.
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation sent out an alert at about 11:30 a-m when the accident happened, followed by another alert at 5:00 p-m when the road was cleared.
