A Waushara County judge has ordered a competency exam for a 77-year-old driver accused of hit and killing a child at her bus stop.
The defense attorney for Carl Mullenix requested the examination during a hearing.
Mullenix is charged with homicide by negligent operation of a vehicle and reckless driving-causing bodily harm.
6-year-old Maryana Kranz was killed last year as she was about to board a school bus along State Road 73 in the Town of Oasis.
Mullenix is accused of failing to stop and passing the bus on its right side, hit the victim and her four-year-old sister.
