U-S Senators Ron Johnson and Tammy Baldwin have different takes on the weekend passage of President Biden’s $1.9 trillion COVID-19 relief package.
Saturday’s vote was a narrow 50-to-49 decision for the message.
Johnson, a Republican, called the legislation a Democrat “wish list,” saying it’s not COVID-19 relief, but a massive debt burden.” Johnson says he supports helping people truly affected by the pandemic, but feels the $1 trillion left over from the first bill should have been spent before passing this one.
Baldwin, a Democrat, says the money could help Wisconsin get past the crisis and “move the economy forward.”
