A goal by Lacey Eden just 42 seconds into the overtime period gave Wisconsin a 3-2 victory over Ohio State in the championship game of the W-C-H-A Final Faceoff.
A pair of goals by Daryl Watts provided all the offense in the first three periods, but the Buckeyes answered each time Watts put the Badgers on top.
Wisconsin, Ohio State, and Minnesota-Duluth will advance to the N-C-A-A quarterfinal round starting a week from today (Monday) in Erie, Pennsylvania.
Wisconsin is the number-two seed in next week’s national tournament. The Badgers will meet Providence.
