The Big Ten Conference will allow up to 8,000 fans to attend tournament games at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.
The Thursday announcement followed approval from the Marion County Health Department.
The numbers mean about 11-percent of the 70,000 seats will be occupied.
The N-C-A-A tournament is going to be held in Indiana later this month, and the national organization announced it will allow 25-percent capacity at the venues used in the metropolitan area.
The Wisconsin Badgers figure to be a number-six or seven seed, with a first game Thursday night.
