Manitowoc Lutheran has reached the Sweet 16 in the WIAA Boys Basketball Tournament and tonight (February 25th) they’ll try to take the next step on the tourney trail.
The Lancers enter their Division-4 Sectional semifinal against Lourdes Academy in Oshkosh with a 16-10 record, while the host Knights begin play with a 21-and-5 mark.
Lourdes is lead by 4-year letter winner Preston Ruedinger, who averages 26-and-a-half points a game & is shooting over 40% from the 3-point line and is nearly an 85% free throw shooter. They also have two other players in double-figures.
Lutheran meanwhile has 4-players averaging between 9.3 and 9.9 points per game, causing Coach Scott Loberger to say about their balanced attack, “It was one of the things we talked about at the beginning of the year. We are going to have to be a team that shares the ball in order to have success. We just don’t have that kid that can put up 30 a night, so we have to rely on each other, and figure out who has the hot hand and make sure we get him the ball.”
The game tips at 7:00 PM and you can hear the play-by-play tonight on 97.1 FM WCUB and at CubRadio.com with broadcast coverage beginning at 6:45 PM.
Meanwhile, Coleman visits top-seeded Sheboygan Lutheran in another D-4 matchup.
In Division-3, Milwaukee Academy of Science is at Kiel, St. Mary’s Springs faces #1 seeded Racine St. Catherine’s at a neutral site, Shoreland Lutheran, Brillion will host St. Mary Catholic, and Wittenberg-Birnamwood invades top-seeded Wrightstown.
