Former Wisconsin Badgers wide receiver Quintez Cephus is suing the university saying he was used as a scapegoat two-and-a-half years ago.
Cephus is seeking damages for the violation of his due process rights, violations of Title Nine provisions, and breach of contract.
Cephus was suspended from the football team in August 2018, then expelled from the University of Wisconsin-Madison after his arrest on sexual assault charges. When a jury acquitted the athlete, he was reinstated.
His attorney in the federal suit says N-F-L agents and draft analysts believe Cephus would have been drafted earlier than the fifth round – meaning more money – if he hadn’t been expelled.
