Those taking part in the Sturgeon Spearing season on the Lake Winnebago System have had a plentiful bounty this year.
According to DNR officials, a total of 1,000 fish have been caught in the first five days of the season, with 91 of those being reported yesterday (February 18th). Of those, 51 were female (8 juvenile and 43 adult), and the remaining 40 were male.
Three of the prehistoric fish weighed over 100 lbs, with the largest being snagged by Terry Noone, weighing in at 134.4 pounds, and measuring 77.5 inches long.
