Mason Dopirak sank a pair of free throws with 4.5 seconds remaining to clinch Manitowoc Lincoln’s 60-59 road victory over Green Bay Southwest in boys high school basketball last night.
With the Ships on top 58-56, Lincoln’s all-time leading scorer was fouled on the inbound pass against full-court pressure. Following a Trojans’ timeout, Dopirak went to the charity stripe and calmly drained the front end and the bonus giving his team a 4-point advantage. A David Danforth three at-the-buzzer closed the final margin to one.
Dopirak scored a game-high 29-points, with 18 of those coming in the 2nd half. Gage Cornell and Marlon Stewart each added 7 for the Ships, now 6-8. Danforth tallied 17 points to lead three players in double-digit scoring for Southwest (3-10).
Lincoln has one game remaining on its’ regular season schedule against Oak Creek Saturday afternoon at 3:00 PM as part of the Wisconsin Basketball Yearbook Classic at the Prairie School.
As reported earlier, the game at Sheboygan North on Thursday was canceled.
