Longtime ESPN reporter Pedro Gomez died unexpectedly Sunday.
He was 58.
He rose to national prominence in the mid 2000’s with ESPN reporting on Barry Bonds as he chased Hank Aaron’s all-time home run record.
ESPN president Jimmy Pitaro said the company was “shocked and saddened” to learn of Gomez’s death.
Before joining ESPN, Gomez worked as a reporter at the Sacramento Bee, Arizona Republic, San Jose Mercury News, San Diego Union, Miami News, and the Miami Herald.
